Loi Krathong Annual Full Moon Festival (Yee Peng) in Thailand Location: Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand Loi Krathong is an annual celebration to celebrate the last full moon in the year. The festival is held in many parts of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The best place to witness this week long festival is in Chiang Mai.This year it falls on the date November 25th. I was just lucky to be there in Thailand around this time. I went to Chiang Mai for 10 days and manage to fully partake in the festival. For a peaceful religion like Buddhism they know how to throw…
This is the plan from Nov 17 – Dec 16. After that inevitable stop in Bangkok, head to the north of Thailand for a couple of weeks and then go explore the islands in the south. I am looking forward to seeing Loi Krathong (sky lantern lighting) festival and the scuba diving in Koh Tao. Bangkok ->Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai/Pai -> Krabi ->Ko Tao (diving) -> Koh Pha Ngan ->Koh Samui -> Surat Thani
Jordan – Nov 10 – 17 Wadi Rum Spending a night in the Wadi Rum desert should be on everyone’s bucketlist. Why? Check the photo below. Camping out in Wadi rum with local Bedouins. 2. Petra Treasury building, Petra 3. Amman Skyline view of Amman’s downtown Hand of Hercules statue in citadel
Wadi Rum also known as The Valley of the Moon is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan. If you’ve seen a blockbuster sci-fi film in your life then you must have seen Jordan, especially Wadi Rum. Films like Star Wars (original series), Indiana Jones, The Martian etc were filmed here in this location due to its unique topography and landscape.
Tel Aviv (4 days) Tel Aviv is on Israel’s Mediterranean coast 2. Jerusalem (4 days) Panaromic view of the Western Wall, Jerusalem 3. Madaba/Dead Sea/Ein Gadi Sunrise over Dead Sea (View from the top of Madaba mountain) 4. Haifa (2 days)
The plan is to backpack across a bunch of countries along the Mediterranean coast. I planned to start my travels in Turkey and then move on to Greece and then to Egypt (my first time in Africa!), Israel, Palestine and Jordan. My original plan was to go to Turkey and Morocco and then move on to South East Asia. But since I am already there in that part of the world, I might as well see more countries along the beautiful coast. Egypt -> Israel -> Jordan Days traveled = 30 days Kms traveled = 2500
