Exploring the Canadian Rockies – Lakes, Glaciers, Parks and Wildlife

Why go to the Canadian Rockies in 2017? About a year ago a message popped up on my Twitter feed. It said all the national parks in Canada will be free in 2017 to mark its 150th anniversary. I immediately started planning my travels to the maple leaf country. First order of business is to order the Park permit pass (which is free of cost) in order to obtain access to the parks. As you can imagine Canadian National Park issued a record number of passes this year due to high demand. You can order your pass from the Canadian…

Ecuador, South America

Ecuador, South America

My 6th country in South America and 50th country in the world, Ecuador is a paradise for those who love nature. With its mystical beauty, snow-capped peaks along the avenue of volcanoes (some are still active) spread across the country, countless waterfalls in Banos, second highest capital city in the world, hugging clouds, rolling hills, cows and sheep grazing the slopes of the mountains. With the exception of Ireland, Ecuador has to be the greenest countries I have ever visited in my life. It seems almost everything is painted in green. This planet continues to amaze me. Ecuador in a…

Done traveling for a while

Done traveling for a while

After a long adventurous 16 month backpacking around the world I finally decided to settle down in one place for a while. I came to Medellin last year and really fell in love with the place. I love the latin culture, cool all year around Spring weather, declining crime rate, free public facilities and much more. The internet connection is fast and stable. I think this will be a great place to setup my base and focus on some work for now. Read my other blog posts on Medellin – Back to Medellin Medellin Transformation

Where to flee if Trump gets elected as the next President?

Where to flee if Trump gets elected as the next President?

For U.S residents only. Let’s face it. The possibility of Trump getting elected as the next President of United States is getting closer to becoming a reality. Independents tend to sway the outcome of every major election one way or the other and most Independents may not vote for Clinton. In any case some people truly believe Trump will make America great again (as his campaign message goes) and believe him to be the best choice to lead the free world. But if you are one of those looking to exit the country because you don’t imagine living under Trump’s…

Back to Medellin, Colombia

Back to Medellin, Colombia

Back to my favorite city in the world. This time I am going to stay here for a couple of months. Medellin has a lot to offer. All the activities in the sports stadiums (Inder Deportes) are free including the gymnasium, soccer and tennis lessons, swimming pools etc. The city wide biking system (encicla) is absolutely free. Of course you have to return the bike every hour but you can take another one immediately. Biking in Medellin is much better than in NYC. You have dedicated bike path which allows one to bike without any intrusion from other traffic. Plus…

Bariloche, Argentina – Blast from the past

Bariloche, Argentina – Blast from the past

Bariloche also known as the Swiss alps of Argentina is situated in the foothills of Andes mountains. It is a popular base for hiking and skiing and exploring the towns around the lake Nahuel Huapi. The town itself is picturesque with Rumors has it that Bariloche attracted quite a number of former Nazi members including Adolf Hitler himself after the end of World War 2 . But the bit about Hitler living there was not completely true. Besides the two main attraction points of Bariloche – skiing and houses of fugitive Nazi’s there is also a thriving Chocolate industry in…

Repost: Why the best time to travel is NOW

We hear it every year, that now is the best time to travel. And it’s quite often true. Resources to find affordable (and even free) travel options exist these days in droves. The west is benefiting from a strong currency, oil prices are cheap, and with increasing uncertainty in some Middle Eastern and South Asian countries, the geopolitical situation of many nations could deteriorate to the point where you missed your chance to go. Everything we need in order see the world can now be ours for cheaper than it ever has been before, and there has never been a…

Avoid Air India at any cost

Avoid Air India at any cost

Avoid Air India Flight Number: IX – 621 Kuala Lumpur to Chennai This is regarding the flight I took from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai on Feb 4th morning. The plane was supposed to leave at 12:30 am in the morning from KL. But upon arrival at the checkin counter I was told the plane is delayed by 3 hours. Then I waited for 3 hours. Then after 3 hours of wait the plane still hasn’t arrived at the gate. We waited for another 1.5 hours. They gave us a paltry $3 refreshment voucher to make up for such a long…
